Manchester art project of Ben Thompson and partner Meg Williams, Luxury Death is an immersive project encompassing music, design and art.

Alongside their lo-fi art rock sonics, the duo collaborate with LA artist Lucas Chemotti to make their own videos, while Ben also runs zine company Desire and designs the band’s gig posters and graphics.

It’s a multi-disciplinary approach that finds the pair putting out music in constantly innovating ways. Their latest singles were released physically in the form of their 52-page zine,Digital Ceremony, which contained QR codes for the tracks as well as works from a selection of artists. Who said vinyl was king?

With all that going on, you’d be forgiven for wondering whether the music may suffer just a teeny little bit, but nope: it’s all Moon Duo-esque shimmering keys, lush licks and boy/girl melodic earworms that stick for day

PACKING VINYL THE CORRECT WAY—I package each record to avoid bent corners and seam splits. Here’s how:
* All records are packaged in new vinyl mailer boxes and assembled using a variation of bubble wrap, shrink and cardboard flats.
* ALL records are put inside a 2-3 mm clear sleeve. (I use the soft sleeves, not the ones that sound like you’re opening a bag of Doritos when you work with them.)
* If the record is used or open, the vinyl and its inner sleeve will always be shipped outside the jacket but inside the same clear sleeve.
* I reinforce the corners of each box mailer (no matter what size it is) by using cardboard “planks” secured to each corner around the edge to prevent damage when tossed around in the mail. This makes a difference.
